Jan 2011:
Well January was a busy month for DZO. We started off the new year hunting with no luck! Then it was on to the ATA show in Indianapolis Indiana. We had a great time at the show, visited with some friends, made some new friends and picked up some great sponsors!! The next weekend we headed to Wabash Outdoors for DOE KILLIN WEEKEND which ended up being NO KILLIN WEEKEND lol with Steveo and Junie both having opportunities but both had a streak of bad luck and we ended the trip with Junie smoken a raccoon ( which she was very proud of). That ended Illinois deer season! We had a weekend of boredom with nothing to hunt so our good buddy Pete at Alabama Trophy Whitetails invited us to come hunt with them the last weekend of their season. We got there and had a great time but with it being the last weekend and temperatures in the upper 70’s in January the big boys were movin at night so we came home empty handed!
Dec 2010:
December starts out with a bang bang as Illinois 2nd gun season starts off with Travis shooting a nice 7pt and one minute later his wife Junie smokes a stud 8pt with a busted main beam. They got awesome footage from new member Anthony Brown filming Travis and crazy Derrall Taylor filming Junie. Dec 12th Illinois muzzleloader started and Hunter seals the deal by dropping his 3rd deer of the year a spike in its tracks with his TC Encore. Two days later brought in the blizzard of snow and Steveo knocked down a doe with his smoke pole. Junie and Dar toughed out the elements but never got to drop the hammer but Terry Tripp and cousin John did on a tall racked 8pt. Dec 19 Derrall and Mike head for Pike County IL while Travis and Steve test out the new Rage Titanium’s on some slick heads WOW! Derrall misses a doe on his trip but made a friend for life and gave each other some nicknames ( Mike “Clark Gizzwald” Vossie and Derrall “ Cousin Eddy” Taylor) they had a great trip and plan on heading back next year. Derrall makes it back and redeems himself by dropping a slick head in its tracks with a Rage Titanium broadhead. Dec 30th Travis and Derrall end Dec with a bang right between the eyes of Mrs. Slick Head FILLIN THE FREEZER BABY!!!
Nov 2010:
The month we all wait for!!! Derrall starts off Nov by smoking a slick head with his bow. Joey Morris smokes a massive 147 inch Illinois stud with his bow. Nov 13th Big Mike Voss slams a nice Iowa 8pt with his bow in his DZO debut!! Not to be out done the next morning Travis scores on a 4yr old main frame 6 Wabash Outdoors cull buck with his bow in Illinois. Nov. 17th Big Joe Morris puts a Rage threw a stud 150 inch Illinois 10pt with his wife Sherry filming for him. Nov 20 Hunter man strikes again killing his first buck a 3pt with his 20 gauge slug gun on the first day of Illinois gun season. That same evening Bryce Edwards smoke a nice Oklahoma 7pt during Oklahoma’s rifle season. On Nov 30 Candace Edwards smokes a Oklahoma stud 9pt with her rifle to wrap up November for DZO!
Oct 2010:
Travis and Derrall started off the season by smoke’n 2 doe right off the bat opening morning. On Oct 2nd Josh Holman smoked a 400lb black bear with his bow in Oklahoma’s second bear season ever. Several more doe hit the ground with DZO bows in October but probably the most memorable doe kill was Hunters. He smoked his first deer ever a doe with his 20 gauge slug gun in Illinois youth gun season. He was a proud and appreciative young man. Three days later Stevo lays down DZO’s first buck off the year with his bow it was a great Illinois 8pt. Travis, Derrall, Steve and Steven head to NC to bear hunt with new found friends at Wall to Wall Outdoors. Travis, Steve and Steven all get skunked while Derrall is covered up with bear but is to busy sleeping and when he wakes up he misses! LOL from NC, the team leave and head to see Pete and Megan at Alabama Trophy Whitetails. It was extremely hot!!!! Travis ended up killing a doe with his bow and the team headed back to Illinois buy will return to Alabama for round two in January! Josh Holman pretty well wrapped up October killing a black yote with his Muzzle loader in Oklahoma’s muzzy season.
Sept 2010:
After shooting thousands of arrows practicing from April until Sept DZO headed out to “All About You Ranch” in Oklahoma to hog hunt and kick off DZO TV season 2 with a bang and a Thwack!!! This had to be one of the most memorable and amazing hunts that most of if not all of us had ever been on. We took 8 hogs 4 with bow, 1 crossbow, 2 with pistol and 1 with rifle. Hunter at age 5 took his first animal ever a 200lb boar with a crossbow. Josh and his hardcore pregnant wife Rachelle stood eye to eye with charging hogs and laid em down with pistols. Dar and Steve found themselves climbing trees and dodging for cover for most of this extremely exciting hunt that I know we will never forget
May 2010:
The DZO Cave was constructed!!! Travis and Junie (with a small amount of help from new team members Steve and Steven Patterson) closed off their garage and transformed it into the DZO cave!! Also in May we had several new additions to the DZO family. Steve Patterson, Steven Patterson, Terry and Whitney Tripp, Mike Voss and Willard Broeker.
May 2010:

April 2010:
TURKEY SEASON!!!! Travis and Hunter kicked off Turkey season with a bang on a young Oklahoma gobbler! This was the first time Hunter (4 yrs old) had ever been on a hunting trip. It was a good weekend for him he not only got a bird with his dad he caught a 10 lb catfish also. Two weeks later John Melvin smoked his first gobbler in Illinois and it was a stud! 2 days later the Turkey slayer Travis Pack and new comer Camera lady his sister in law Louessa films him kill another Illinois bird. And then Travis and Derrall smoke a double two huge Illinois thunder gobblers. Looks like the SS Custom calls really work!!!
March 2010:
DZO traveled to do a special event at the Great Outdoor Store in Jackson TN. We had a blast there!
Feb 2010:
John, Derrall, Linda, Junie and Travis head to NWTF in Nashville. We had a great time there made some new friends and picked up a couple sponsors. Montana Decoys and SS Custom Calls.
Jan 2010:
Well Jan 13th was the day that this group of red necks got to see themselves on TV. We aired on Dish Networks ICTV and got to watch all of our hard work/dreams pay off and come true! How many times in life does that happen?
Dec 2009:
Junie has had a rough deer season up until this point when she takes a great 8pt during Illinois 2nd gun season. Other than some doe slayin, Junies buck pretty well ended DZO’s season one with bang!!
Nov 2009:
Brandon and Logan traveled to Colorado and kick off November with 2 stud mulies. The next couple weeks proved to be tough with only a few doe hitting the ground until those magical 3 days of Illinois gun season came in. We like to call it 150 inch weekend with Travis kicking it off with 160 inch 11pt while in the same morning Brad Aaron takes a nice 8pt and the very next morning Joey Morris and his dad Joe knock down 2 over 150 inches!! A couple days later Garret Graham strikes again during Oklahoma’s rifle season on a nice 3pt. November as always proved to be awesome for DZO!
Oct 2009:
Travis and Derrall head back to Arkansas to try to take another black bear but came home empty handed. While they were gone Sherry Morris got it done with her bow on nice Illinois 8pt which is officially DZO’s first buck taken on video. One week later Brad Aaron takes an Illinois 10pt with his bow. And Sherry Morris strikes again to take another big 8pt with her bow! DZO is on a roll with 8 yr old Garret Graham taking a nice spiker with his rifle in Oklahoma’s youth gun season. The very next morning his brother Jacob makes a great shot on a 4pt. Their dad KD Graham then takes a great Oklahoma 9pt with his muzzle loader.
Sept 2009:
Randy, Travis, John and new Team member Billy Jack Edwards head to Arkansas on a black bear hunt. The rain about washed us away but Randy killed a nice black bear with his bow in a very action packed dramatic hunt. Travis then travels to Missouri, he had a close call with a nice buck and takes a doe with his bow which was DZO’s official first deer taken on video.
Aug 2009:
We went ton Rocky Top for our first official Team DZO hog hunt and the start of DZO TV season 1! Kd and Brad both bagged two nice boars and Junie smoked a Ram with her bow. We had a great time.
May 2009
The 2009 turkey season comes to a close. It was a tough one and we all hunted hard. Our Team hunted in IL, OK, KY, MO and AR. We were fortunate enough to have taken several birds on film and plan to share them with you all very soon. We even took a couple of yotes that wondered a little to close to the Dead Zone!
We also asked Junie Pack to be our Director of Merchandising. She is presently putting together a full line of DZO Gear that will be for sale here on our site.
April 2009
Turkey Season!!! We began field production as Dead Zone Outdoors. Travis filmed Team DZO member Joey Morris from Illinois as he took a tom with his bow for the first official hunt as DZO.
Travis later filmed Team DZO member David Taylor take a turkey in Oklahoma for our first out of state hunt.
Lincoln Transportation out of Oklahoma City came on board as our first official sponsor.
March 2009
Things really began to take off...we finalized the design of our logo and regestered the name Dead Zone Outdoors as am outdoor video production name brand.
We completed our first hour and a half demo as Team DZO which was made up of our footage filmed at Rocky Top Ranch in Oklahoma...it was a hit with our family and friends.
On March 21st, we launched www.deadzoneoutdoors.net, put together our original team and doubled our field production equipement.
February 2009
While making a "home movie" of our hog hunt, we had the crazy idea that we could begin producing videos on our own. We upgraded our computer stuff and began turning our "home movie" into a demo.

The hunt that started it all...Travis Pack, Randy Anderson, David Taylor and I (John Melvin), went on a 2 day hog hunt at Rocky Top Ranch near Lamar, Oklahoma. During this hunt we were simply having a good time hunting and doing some freelance videoing for another production company.
